Profile
Human Transferrin (HTr) is a blood protein transporting iron to and from body cells. To date, HTr has been available as a plasma-derived product for diagnostic assays and cell cultures, but not for therapeutic uses. Research suggests that HTr may be utilized as a targeting agent for cancer and infectious disease treatments and thus has the potential to render these treatments more effective and less destructive to healthy cells. Kamada is in the initial R&D stages of adapting HTr to allow its use as part of other manufacturers’ medications for the transfer of chemotherapeutic agents to cancerous cells.
